Discover one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods of Paris

Near the Canal Saint-Martin, the neighbourhood around the Gare de l’Est has experienced a significant revival over the last few years and is undoubtedly one of the French capital’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.

Alongside the canal…

Start your walk with a stroll through the Jardin Villemin, then walk past the bandstand before heading onto the Quai de Valmy.
Walk along the Canal Saint-Martin, in front of the Point Ephémère. Just after the Point Ephémère, cross over and take the Quai de la Loire. Follow the water’s edge and admire the barges moored on both sides of the Canal de l’Ourcq.

… To the parc des Buttes-Chaumont.

At the end of the canal, turn right into the rue de Crimée, which will take you straight to the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. In addition to the sloping lawns that welcome visitors as soon as the fine weather starts, you can walk around the lake and explore the cave, the waterfall and the island, which is home to the Temple de la Sibylle, which you can reach by crossing a suspension bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel.

Walking: 3 km to the entry to the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont – Approx. 40 minutes – But the walk continues into the park
Running: 3 km – Approx. 20 minutes – With the option of extending your run into the park.
